The Good Samaritans' 26th Annual Gala — Out of Africa — Bound to be Wild — raised a record-breaking $445,000 to benefit Good Samaritan Hospital's Women's Services Department and the Medical Education Research Fund. The Women's Services Department will utilize the funds to purchase digital mammography for a mobile van which will be seen on the streets of Cincinnati in the not too distant future.
More than 600 supporters of Good Samaritans Foundation gathered at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, where guests were treated to a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet African themed dinner. After dinner in the Regency Ballroom, guests danced the night away to the sounds of Endless Summer Band. In the Foyer, guests were able to make their own safari hats, experience African face painting, jump into a vintage photo booth, enjoy a Gourmet Chocolate Bar, and converse at the coffee bar.
Turner Construction Company generously underwrote the cost of dinner at the event and Good Samaritan Hospital Medical and Dental Staff generously underwrote the cost of the entertainment. Corporate sponsors included AK Steel; Fifth Third Bank; Macy's; Medical X-Ray, Inc., Phillips Supply Co.; SC Ministry Foundation, Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, and, Tri-State Maternal-Fetal Medicine Associates, Inc. These substantial underwriting and sponsorships donations had a considerable impact on the fundraising efforts for this annual event.
The Good Samaritans is a dedicated volunteer organization of Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation and includes members with ties to the medical and business community. The Good Samaritans have raised more than $4.6 million in their history. This year's Gala Chairman was Judi Roth and her Co-Chairmen were Lesley Loon and Sarah Klein. They worked diligently with other Gala committee volunteers and with physician champions Elizabeth Alexander, MD; Jose Barreau, MD, and Michael Baggish, MD.
