The Good Samaritan Hospital Women in Philanthropy was developed in 2001 and is a program designed to help women become better stewards of their health and financial well-being through a variety of educational programs, workshops and activities. Programs are developed to help educate, empower, and motivate women to take the necessary steps they need to better care for themselves and their resources.
The first Women in Philanthropy pilot workshop was launched in October of 2001 through the help of a focus group. Since that time, a Women in Philanthropy Advisory Council has been formed and 15 workshops have been conducted. To date, over 650 women have attended the workshops and close to 45 of them have completed planned gifts accounting for an estimated $3.5 million.
Workshop topics have included: stewardship, life values, legacy planning, tax planning, retirement, Good Samaritan Hospital Women’s Services, investment decisions, strategies for wealth transfer, investing, breast health, wellness, heart health, tips to empower women to create clear decisions around money and the life they want to live, financial security, estate planning, urogynecology, osteoporosis, organizing, gratitude, how to choose advisors and many more. The next Time Out for Women’s Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2010 so be sure to mark your calendar!
